Tre Finestre
Golden light in September’s afternoon, weather itching to turn to autumn.
A meet-up with friends winding down in Campo Santa Maria Formosa.
The light in this little niche is enchanting. Gazing at the three windows, I wonder about the families who had lived behind them throughout the centuries, the parties they hosted, the dreams they had. Are we that different?
The sound of Italian chatter wafts through the air as locals greet each other and a gondolier drifts by, silently slicing through the water.
I take a deep breath and close my eyes. There’s just something about this place. It casts a spell upon me with its “pearl-laden haze, which is part damp oxygen, part coffee and prayers”.
Aaaaahhh, La Serenissima.
