Reflejos de Sevilla - Reflections of Seville
Some cities overwhelm you with their charm and beauty.
Others gradually win you over with their culture and art. Seville, the capital of Andalusia in the south of Spain disarms and seduces you. Without realizing it Seville beguiles and entrances you with its heady mix of ancient history, fine and modern art, the fiery rhythms of flamenco, great food, and natural beauty. Sevilla was important as a cultural centre, as the capital of ancient Muslim Spain, and as a centre for Spanish exploration of the New World.
This photo was made in the Plaza de España the most famous square in Seville. It is a spectacle of majesty and light framed by María Luisa Park. Designed by the Seville architect, Aníbal González, as a huge half-circle. You can wander through the plaza or enter the buildings by any of the four bridges over the curving moat.
